The city of Luleå in Sweden with about 45.000 inhabitants has a vision to build new housing and increase the local population by 10,000 before the year 2050. In order to succeed, the water supply and sewer infrastructure must be upgraded with a new main water line that can cope with higher flows of waste- and rainwater.

Stuttgart is an expanding urban centre in Southern Germany. A disused army base offered the opportunity to create a new town along the local city rail link. The main challenge was how to keep rainwater run-off at the same rate after development as before, as the site lies close to a tributary feeder to Stuttgart's main river, the Neckar, and is placed on a steep, heavy clay hill.
The Sungei Buloh Wetlands Reserve is a nature reserve located in the northwest of Singapore. In 2002, it was the first wetlands reserve to be designated in Singapore and its global importance as a stop-over point for migratory birds was recognized by its international’s inclusion in the East Asian Australasian Shorebird Site Network. In 2003, it was also listed as an ASEAN Heritage Park.

The new bypass on the A31 loops around the town of Magherafelt in Northern Ireland, and is expected to ease congestion in the town by as many as 50,000 vehicles a week, reducing journey times on a major route. Ramboll contributed highway, structures and geotechnical design, environmental co-ordination (including landscape design and assessment of alternative designs) and site supervision.
Ramboll prepares Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) of three near-shore wind farms in Danish waters for the Danish energy grid owner, Energinet.dk. Bishan Park is one of the most popular parks in the heartlands of Singapore. As part of a much-needed park upgrade and plans to improve the capacity of the Kallang channel along the edge of the park, works were carried out simultaneously to transform the utilitarian concrete channel into a naturalised river.
Tianjin is one of China’s top 5 cities, not just in size and population but also in terms of business investments. Located just half an hour south-east of Beijing by high-speed train, Tianjin is also close to the sea. The high-water table needs to be maintained to prevent seawater encroaching inland and the dry, harsh climate does not preclude flooding.
Zollhallen Plaza is a new counterpart for the historic customs hall which was restored in 2009. The plaza is a fine example of water sensitive urban design, as it is disconnected from the sewer system. Beautiful planters provide infiltration points, and subsurface gravel trenches with innovative in-built filter medium reduce the hydraulic overload on the sewer system. Indented plaza areas create a surface flood zone. No rain water is fed to the sewer system, instead the ground water table is recharged.

The construction of the new E18 motorway will secure a higher traffic capacity, easier access and a more predictable travel time through villages and areas in Østfold. The E18 road is split in to nine road sections, stretching from Vinterbro all the way to Sweden's boarder. This project focuses on the 6th section, between Knapstad and Akershus border, and involves preparation of zoning plans as well as the construction plans.
Within Finland, Sweden and Norway in particular, Ramboll has been extensively involved in the establishment of the Nordic Triangle transport corridor, part of EU’s TEN-T road network, linking this region closer to the rest of Europe and beyond. As a part of the Nordic Triangle transport corridor, the E18 stretches all the way across southern Finland from Turku via the Helsinki metropolitan area to Vaalimaa at the Russian border providing a fast route to Eastern markets. Leading the consulting consortium in charge of construction design, Ramboll plays a central role in the E18 motorway extension from Koskenkylä to Kotka.
The problem of road congestion on the A605 road, resulting from increased rail traffic through the Kings Dyke level crossing, needed an ambitious diversion scheme that involved a new road and bridge, rail works, ground works and landscaping.
Ramboll carried out site development for a potential offshore wind farm on Mejlflak in Aarhus Bay, Denmark. Ramboll's contract with Havvind Århus Bugt A/S included geophysical/geotechnical investigations and the entire EIA process including economic assessments.
