With a population of almost 8 million people, the city of Hyderabad is the fourth most populous in India. As part of an effort to increase mobility and help Hyderabad become a more people-friendly and greener city, the new Metro Rail Project integrates multi-modal public transport with urban spaces and infrastructure development.

Three metro rail corridors covering a total length of 72 kilometres are planned, with 30 kilometres already operational – the longest stretch of rapid transit metro in India.

Using CUBE, a modelling platform that covers all aspects related to transportation planning, engineering and land-use, Ramboll has conducted road network and public transport modelling, as well forecasting current and future traffic at the planned metro stations to design other services and fare systems accordingly.

The entire Metro line features 57 stations and is expected to be completed by December 2019.
