Restoring these 10 km of water course running through Copenhagen will have a significant positive impact on the natural value of the stream, creating an improved environment for local fauna and flora, as well as enhancing water quality. It will also serve to create an attractive oasis for the people using the stream surroundings for recreational purposes.
The Municipality of Copenhagen has commissioned Rambøll to prepare a master plan for the restoration of Harrestrup stream, covering its whole course of 10 kilometres through the city. This plan will restore the stream back to a more natural environment, creating appropriate physical and biological conditions for the fauna in the area, while also improving water quality and recreational values. The master plan will be the basis of a detailed design and implementation of restoration schemes in five sub-sections of the stream.
