Rail Denmark has decided to modernise the centralised traffic control system in Aalborg. The current system is ready for replacement. The Aalborg-Frederikshavn section includes a total of 8 substations, with various interlocking systems.
The new system will be based on modern, screen based technology. It will provide a higher level of automatic train management functions than ever before. It will therefore enable more efficient operations, and will reduce operational costs.
Based on many years of experience within signalling, interlocking and Centralized Traffic Control systems, Ramboll provides many important services on this project. This includes project management, which encompasses risk management, engineering and design consultancy, testing, and ensuring all documentation is correct. Ramboll oversees the upgrade of the older remote control system, and integrates the more modern screen-based system with the signalling system. A more efficient automatic traffic management system incorporating train numbers is used, and Ramboll is also responsible for maintaining the control centre, substations, crossings and signalling.
