Cambodia is currently experiencing a high degree of urbanization. However, in many of the country’s secondary towns and cities, the urbanization is generally taking place with minimal coordination, inadequate infrastructure, and insufficient regard for environmental impacts.

To avoid disorganized growth, inefficient land use and inadequate urban management, ADB is running several programs in Cambodia for environmental improvement and livability.

Most recently, the Government of Cambodia has engaged Ramboll for a long-term engagement to design and supervise the construction of drainage, wastewater collection and treatment, and solid waste management in six provincial towns.

Enhancing institutional effectiveness

The project is also expected to enhance institutional effectiveness with a focus on private sector engagement, and the improving policy and planning environment for regional economic connectivity.
