“With a pioneering vision to transform the entire fashion system, the Summit launch coincided with the UN Climate Change Conference COP15 in Copenhagen in 2009, sparking the sustainability movement in the fashion industry. Today, a decade later, with challenges such as climate change, human rights and resource scarcity soaring to new heights, responsible innovation has become the most important conversation in the industry, making the Summit more pertinent than ever.” (Copenhagen Fashion Summit press release)
Leading up to the Summit, Ramboll surveyed experts from Danish fashion and textile companies to discover their barriers to sustainability; what they find relevant for this industry when moving towards a more sustainable, circular production; and actions needed to align with these values. The study includes experts from small- and medium-sized companies in the mid-price to high-end segments. The purpose of our research is to share insights into the state of sustainable fashion production in Denmark right now. An active participant at the Summit, we hope to contribute to the dialogue and collaboration towards a more sustainable fashion industry with research-based insights.
The Ramboll Foundation is powering the summit’s Innovation Forum, a sustainable solutions platform designed to help small and large fashion businesses speed up or embark on their sustainability journey. The Forum partners fashion brands with solution providers from across the value chain – from innovative materials to responsible packaging and from disruptive ideas to tried and tested solutions. Careful screening data gathered in advance will be used to match brands to providers – enabling them to take their first steps or continue on their journey toward sustainability.
