Ramboll is proud to have supported the ambitious vision of the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) to establish a leadership position in offshore wind by working together on the development of the NJBPU Offshore Wind Strategic Plan for the State of New Jersey – the state’s comprehensive roadmap for achieving 7,500 megawatts (MW) of offshore wind energy by 2035.
Called for under Governor Phil Murphy’s Executive Order, Ramboll developed the plan through an extensive public stakeholder process. It presents recommendations on establishing an offshore wind industry that achieves net economic benefits and gives New Jersey residents the best overall value, while also protecting the environment and commercial and recreational fishing interests and mitigating the impacts of climate change.
“This is an exciting and significant contribution to the emerging offshore wind industry on the US East Coast,” says Thomas Newcomb, Managing Consultant at Ramboll. “With a long history in wind energy, Ramboll has designed nearly two-thirds of the offshore wind turbine foundations and many of the platforms operating across the world today. We also brought to this undertaking decades of New Jersey-based experience, extensive experience in the developing US offshore wind market, and a strong presence in the US and global onshore wind markets.”
