Ramboll in the Americas is pleased to announce the addition of Kenneth (Ken) Lynch, former Executive Deputy Commissioner for the New York Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) as Director of Strategic Growth Initiatives, bringing more than 25 years’ experience in environmental and natural resource strategy and policy.

With a vast range of environmental, waterfront and governmental affairs knowledge and experience, Ken will help strengthen Ramboll’s expertise and relationships, while further propelling the company into a leadership role in environmental, water and energy projects and planning in the Northeast and across the US.

Ken’s extensive environmental policy and permitting experience will play an important role in Ramboll’s business development efforts and expand the company’s leadership role in developing and executing strategy for some of the nation’s most complex remediation programs. He also will lend his unique expertise to help direct projects focused on brownfield redevelopment; improving water quality by addressing toxins associated with harmful algae blooms and emerging contaminants; and renewable energy, sustainability and resiliency.

In his previous role as Executive Deputy Commissioner of the NYSDEC, Ken directed environmental policy, budget development and management and project management. He also played a leadership role in delivering major statewide environmental projects like the restoration of Onondaga Lake in Syracuse, NY, USA and significant capital projects involving major construction, remediation and resiliency. He led NYSDEC responses to statewide emergencies, including major storms, flooding, fires and significant spills, and advised the Governor and Commissioner on environmental policy and issues.

Commenting on the new role, Jim Fox, Managing Director at Ramboll in the Americas said, “We are pleased to welcome Ken as Director of Strategic Growth Initiatives. Ken brings a wealth of experience in environmental and natural resource issues and policy, and his extensive experience in the evolving areas of renewable energy, coastal resiliency and emerging contaminants will prove incredibly valuable as we invest further in innovative solutions for our clients. Ken is well-proven across the industry, and we are confident that he will help take our business to new levels.”

Reflecting on his new role, Ken Lynch added, “I am delighted to be joining such a strong player in the environmental, water and energy markets. The work already being undertaken by the teams in the US shows an impressive range of capabilities, and I’m looking forward to helping the company transition to the next phase of growth.”
